🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1957, a witness in Highland Park, northeast of Los Angeles, observed a bright green object in the sky. The object, described as round and the size of a pinhead, remained stationary for at least 10 minutes. The witness, a 44-year-old man, compared it to a stoplight and located it at 230 degrees from his position. Although the possibility of a balloon or the wingtip of an aircraft was considered, no definitive explanation was confirmed. The sighting was recorded as a ground visual and no photographs were taken.
The report classifies the case as "possibly a balloon," but other explanations are not ruled out. The location of the sighting points toward Norton AFB, just 3-5 miles away. The clear and windy weather conditions facilitated the observation, although it did not appear on radar. The responsible officer, 1st Lt. Edward R. Martin, concluded that the most likely explanation was the wingtip of an aircraft, though the official report remains somewhat ambiguous.
