🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1957, an officer in San Pedro, California reported the observation of two round white objects moving at high speed. According to the report, the objects were about 49 feet in diameter and traveling at approximately 1500 miles per hour. The officer believed they might be jet aircraft, possibly related to the Air Force or Navy. The objects moved in a straight line and disappeared from view in 20 seconds. Despite the unusual speed and appearance, the report concluded they were likely a balloon or an astronomical phenomenon. However, the detailed description and recorded speed generated some uncertainty about their true nature.
The report, part of project 10073, did not include photographs or radar records, which limited the evaluation capacity. Nevertheless, the officer prepared a detailed summary that was archived for further research. This case is an example of how UFO sightings were documented during the Cold War, with a mix of technical analysis and assumptions based on the observer's experience. Although the possibility of an extraterrestrial object was dismissed, the report reflects the uncertainty and interest in non-conventional aerial phenomena of the time.
