🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1957, a civilian observer in Pennsylvania spotted a round, grey, pea-shaped object directly over Lake Silkworth. The object remained visible for 15 minutes and moved to a high altitude beyond the range of human sight. Although no photographs were taken, the report concluded it was likely a weather balloon. Clear weather conditions and strong high-altitude winds also supported this explanation.
The witness's description, along with the duration and trajectory of the object, matched typical characteristics of a balloon. Although no images were recorded, weather data and the location of the sighting helped investigators rule out other possibilities. This case, like many from the era, was archived under the assumption there was no conclusive evidence of an unidentified phenomenon.
