UFO with fire trail seen in Kansas and Nevada in 1957

Summary

In May 1957, a witness in Goodland, Kansas, reported a perfectly round object the size of a jet leaving a five-mile fire trail. The object was moving in a straight line and appeared to be descending. The observation lasted 15 seconds, and although a speed of 35 mph was mentioned, this seems contradictory to the description of fast movement. A second report from Stead AFB in Nevada described a two-mile fire trail and an estimated speed of 3500 miles per hour. Investigators concluded it could be a meteor, but the discrepancy in speeds and the visual description suggest it might have been an unusual or misinterpreted phenomenon.
