Summary

In May 1957, an object was sighted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with unusual characteristics. A round object the size of a baseball, with a blue-green color, was observed both from the ground and from the air. According to witnesses, the object appeared to hit something and split into two parts before falling to the ground. The observation lasted only three seconds, limiting the amount of detail that could be gathered. The report concluded that the phenomenon was characteristic of a meteor, although other possibilities were not ruled out.

The report was reviewed by experts and it was considered that there was not enough evidence to identify the object as a balloon, aircraft, or unknown phenomenon. The coincidence of observations from the ground and from two different airplanes, along with the object's behavior description, supported the theory that it was a meteor. Despite the brief sighting, the detailed description and the wide area of the phenomenon made it carefully recorded in the files of Project 10073.
