🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1957, a radar operator in Detroit detected an unidentified object that appeared as a clearly defined blip on the screen, roughly the size of two jet aircraft. The object was observed for about 30 seconds before it disappeared from the radar. Although initially considered as possibly a balloon or an astronomical phenomenon, the data suggested it was likely an unidentified aircraft. The estimated speed of the object was 1200 knots, making it quite fast for the time. The available information was limited, but military personnel concluded it was most likely an unknown aircraft.
The report did not include photographs, and the object was not intercepted by fighter jets. Although the 661st Fighter Squadron was notified, there were no further records of follow-up. This case remains one of many in the history of UFOs that lacked a clear explanation, but which suggest the presence of unknown aerial objects in the skies of the United States.
