Summary

An object was observed for almost 45 minutes in the early hours of June 12, 1957, near Amarillo and Odessa, Texas. Civilian witnesses, including a 27-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter, reported seeing a round object the size of a pinhead, white in color, slowly moving across the sky. At one point, the object circled north of its usual path. Although no photos were taken, the witnesses agreed the object showed no signs of being an aircraft or an astronomical phenomenon. Weather data indicated strong winds at high altitudes, leading investigators to consider the possibility of a weather balloon. However, no official confirmation was made.

The sighting was recorded as part of Project 10073, a U.S. Air Force initiative to investigate unidentified flying objects. The report details weather conditions, exact location, and witness comments. Despite the long duration of the observation, there was no radar involvement or interception attempts. The object faded gradually, and the witnesses continued to watch it from outside their home. Although a weather balloon was suggested, no conclusive evidence was found. The case was filed without a definitive resolution, but with a tentative evaluation favoring a conventional explanation.
