A 32-year-old Italian man reported an unusual aerial phenomenon in Milan on June 12, 1957. While observing the sky with binoculars, he noticed a bright object zigzagging at high speed from the east. The object stopped over the city at an estimated altitude of 1,800 meters, appearing about the size of a chicken's egg and displaying a green-yellow color. After remaining visible for 17 minutes, it vanished into the upper atmosphere, leaving two white-orange vapor trails. Weather conditions, following a recent storm, were conducive to mirage effects, complicating the evaluation.
The official report could not identify the object, ruling out balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena. The witness, who had a hobby in meteorology, directly contacted U.S. authorities to report his experience. Although no conclusive evidence was found, the case remains one of many from the 1950s that lacked a clear explanation.
