White UFO sighted in 1957 at Pennerrell AFB

Summary

In June 1957, a pilot reported a bright object in the sky above Pennerrell AFB. The UFO appeared as an intense white light, similar to a car headlight at a distance. It moved slowly, rising and disappearing above the horizon. The estimated distance was 35 miles at an altitude of 8,000 feet. Although a balloon was considered, there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation.

The report, under Project 10073, noted that the object did not exhibit characteristics of an aircraft or astronomical phenomenon. The lack of photographs and additional data made identification difficult. Despite the ambiguity, the case remains an interesting example of how observers of the time tried to understand unexplained phenomena in the sky.
