Kokomo Indiana UFO 1957

Summary

In July 1957, two round objects were observed in Kokomo, Indiana, for 37 minutes. They changed between six or seven different colors and displayed unusual movements: they would stop, hover, and then accelerate rapidly. The observer, on the ground, noted the prolonged duration and erratic course of the objects. Despite the detailed description, no photos were taken and no radar data was recorded.

The official evaluation concluded that it was likely a balloon. Although no prior reports were found, the assessing officer agreed with the reporting officer that the sighting was not consistent with conventional aircraft or astronomical phenomena. The most plausible explanation pointed to a balloon, though the possibility of an unusual event was not entirely dismissed. The case was closed without further investigation.
