🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1957, a civilian in Jacksonville, Florida, reported seeing an object in front of the moon and wrote a letter to the president asking for information. The sighting lacked photographs, radar data, or clear details. The case was marked as unreliable due to insufficient information. In 1961, more letters were received about the same event, but no conclusive data emerged. The possibility of a lunar occultation was considered, but not confirmed.
The military response was brief and polite, thanking the witness for the information and reiterating that the case could not be evaluated with the available data. Later letters from witnesses appeared confused and contradictory, mentioning objects on the moon, planes, and personal experiences that did not clarify the event. The file was closed as an unreliable report.
