🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1957, several towns in Indiana witnessed strange multicolored lights in the sky for over two hours. Witnesses included local police, state troopers, and civilians who reported red, blue, green, and white lights flashing, changing colors, and moving at varying speeds. Some observers noted that the lights appeared to hover or split into segments. Confusion grew as multiple witnesses reported different movement directions, complicating the identification of the phenomenon. Despite calls to air bases and coordination between authorities, the object was not definitively identified until it was discovered to be a KB-50 aircraft conducting an aerial refueling operation with experimental lights. This case illustrates how the unknown can generate mystery and speculation, even when there is an earthly explanation.
