In August 1957, a ground observer in Farmington, Illinois, spotted two round objects the size of a dime. These dark-colored objects moved in a straight line before falling to the ground. Although they were not recovered, the sighting was recorded by the Air Force. The reports concluded they could have been balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena, but there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation. The lack of physical evidence and the brief duration of the sighting (40 seconds) made further analysis difficult.
