🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1957, in Cashmere, Washington, a group of civilians observed six objects shaped like inverted light-colored cones, dark on the inside with strings hanging from the outer perimeter. Witnesses, both adults and children, described the objects as appearing and disappearing erratically, moving very fast toward the northwest. Initially thought to be balloons, no nearby launches were confirmed. The investigating officer even laughed when hearing the story, causing the witnesses to feel offended.
The official investigation concluded the objects were likely balloons, though no radar contacts or launch confirmations were recorded in the area. The most plausible explanation suggested they were loose-kite-like balloons moving with the wind. However, the unusual speed and erratic behavior of the objects left many questions unanswered, making this case one of the most intriguing from that era.
