🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A round object, the size of a silver dollar, was seen in the sky over Presque Isle Air Force Base in Maine on September 3, 1957. Observers described it as white and luminous, with a zigzagging motion before it disappeared into the clouds. The sighting lasted about two minutes and was reported by three military personnel who saw it from the ground. Although a weather balloon or aircraft were considered, the data was insufficient for a conclusive evaluation.
The weather conditions were very dark with low clouds and fog, limiting visibility. The observers, who were working at the base, could not confirm what the object was with certainty. The most plausible hypothesis pointed to a radiosonde balloon launched to measure upper winds, but an aircraft was not ruled out. The official report concluded that there was not enough information to determine the nature of the object.
