🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1957, a civilian in Upland, California, reported an unidentified flying object displaying a green flash with red tails. The sighting occurred on two consecutive mornings, between 12:15 and 12:30 UTC, at an approximate altitude of 600 meters. The observer heard no sound and could not precisely describe the object's shape or size, which created some confusion in the official evaluation. The sighting lasted 15 minutes, but the lack of concrete details made it difficult to perform a conclusive analysis.
The U.S. Air Force recorded the incident as part of its Project 10073, but concluded that there was insufficient information for a proper evaluation. Despite being reported by a military officer, the civilian's testimony did not provide enough data to rule out or confirm conventional explanations. The case was classified as insufficient for analysis, reflecting the difficulty authorities had in handling reports with few concrete details. This now-declassified document shows how even in the 1950s, UFO sightings remained a topic of interest and study.
