🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A round object the size of a quarter at arm's length was observed in Kremmling, Colorado, in 1957. Initially red, it changed to blue with a white core and two comet-like tails. The witness saw it for five minutes from their car, and although it remained stationary, it gradually faded out of the sky. The sighting occurred at an elevation of 30 degrees, with clear visibility and no wind. The report concluded it was likely a balloon released in Grand Junction, Colorado, which would fit the description given by the witness.
The object's description and behavior initially caused some confusion, but the available data pointed to a conventional explanation. The lack of photographs and the visual nature of the observation limited the possibilities for deeper analysis. However, the official Project 10073 report considered the object not to be an aircraft or an astronomical phenomenon, but more likely a balloon. This case reflects how many sightings from that era were resolved with earthly explanations, although always with a hint of mystery.
