🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1957, a military observer reported a bright object moving across the horizon at high speed. The sighting occurred near Parkersburg, West Virginia, and lasted approximately 30 seconds. The object was moving from northwest to southeast, a trajectory that drew attention due to its speed and brightness. Investigators considered the possibility that it was a third-stage rocket from a Soviet satellite, although an aircraft was also suggested. The confusion increased when it was noted that the observer's estimated time might have affected the accurate identification of the phenomenon.
The official report did not reach a definitive conclusion, reflecting the typical ambiguity of UFO cases from that era. The possibility of a meteor or balloon was ruled out due to the duration and speed of the sighting. Although it was suggested that it could be a rocket from a Soviet satellite, it was not confirmed. The case remains open, like so many others, and continues to be an unsolved mystery.
