An observer in Indian Trails, Michigan, reported an object resembling a meteorite on October 13, 1957. The object, described as a silver-gray ball the size of a basketball, had lights that appeared like portholes. Although it emitted an electric hum, its trajectory and duration led to it being considered a meteor. The observation was brief, lasting 8 to 10 seconds, which raised doubts about its nature.
The report classifies the observation as likely a meteor, though other explanations such as a balloon or aircraft were not ruled out. The observer was a student who was looking at constellations when he noticed the object. The weather conditions were clear, with a moderate wind at 2800 feet. Despite the detailed description, investigators suggested it might have been an exaggerated interpretation of a natural phenomenon.
