🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An officer at Dobbins Air Base in Georgia reported a UFO sighting in Camp Hill, Alabama, in October 1957. A science instructor and a student at a military academy observed a round, reddish-yellow object moving across the sky from north to south at an estimated speed of 14,000 to 16,000 miles per hour. The object was very small compared to the artificial moon they were tracking, and it disappeared behind buildings after about 13 seconds. Although the witnesses used 8x50 binoculars, no photographs were taken and there was no radar confirmation.
The official conclusion was that it might have been a meteor, though no other explanation was ruled out. The report was deemed insufficient for a definitive assessment and was filed without further investigation. Officer Burnsides considered the witnesses reliable, but no follow-up was conducted.
