🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1957, a witness in Mannasquam, New Jersey, observed a bright, silver spherical object with a very pronounced vapor trail. The object had no visible wings and made a series of sharp turns, first heading northeast, then northwest, and finally southwest. Despite the unusual trajectory, investigators concluded it was likely a fighter jet or bomber at high altitude. The report notes that no photos were taken and the witness estimated speed and altitude by comparing it to another nearby aircraft.
The official evaluation considered the case lacked sufficient data for a definitive conclusion, but ruled out the possibility of an unidentified object. The report also mentions that other vapor trails observed in the area during the same time could be related to the same event. Although the object displayed unusual behavior, investigators classified it as a conventional aircraft, likely operating under extreme altitude conditions.
