🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1957, a civilian observer in Germany reported a round object resembling a large white-yellow star. The sighting occurred about 20 miles southeast of Kassel and lasted between 8 and 10 seconds. The object showed no tail or trail and disappeared into the haze on the horizon. Although the report noted that the information was limited and secondhand, investigators concluded it was likely an astronomical phenomenon, such as a meteor. The brief duration and lack of precise data made a more detailed evaluation difficult.
The report, classified under Project 10073, was processed by the USAFE (United States Air Forces in Europe) and archived as part of air intelligence records. Despite no photos being taken and no radar confirmation, the available data suggested a natural explanation. However, the vague nature of the testimony and the timing of the sighting—during a period of high interest in unidentified aerial phenomena—make it an intriguing case within UFO archives.
