🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1957, Japanese fishermen reported a strange phenomenon: a pillar of flame 100 miles high that remained stationary for 15 minutes. The color of the phenomenon changed from red to blue before it disappeared. Despite its considerable duration and detailed description, investigators concluded there was not enough information to evaluate the incident. This case is part of a series of unexplained luminous sightings reported by seafarers along the coast of Hokkaido.
The report, prepared by a USAF officer, compiles three distinct sightings, all without a clear explanation. Observers did not take photos or use radar, limiting the possibility of technical analysis. Although explanations such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena were considered, none were confirmed. The mystery remains, and the case was filed as insufficient for a conclusive evaluation.
