🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, four U.S. soldiers stationed in South Korea reported an unidentified object near Seoul. They described an object ranging in size from a 35-gallon drum to an egg, with a bright blue-white glow. The object hovered close to the ground, reflecting in nearby rice paddies, before rising and disappearing like a light bulb being turned off. The observation lasted about two minutes, and the witnesses could not identify the object with certainty.
Investigators concluded the object was likely a balloon, a common but unfamiliar object to the soldiers in the area. The description of "hovering" and "glow" matched weather balloons, though no official confirmation of a balloon in the area was found. This case highlights how everyday objects can be misinterpreted in unfamiliar contexts, especially when people lack experience with them.
