🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in North Vassalboro, Maine, reported in 1957 a round object the size of a baseball, white and bright, moving southwest. They described it as a star that disappeared behind a cloud. The observation lasted between 20 and 25 minutes, and no photos were taken. Astronomical data matched the position of Venus, leading to the classification of the phenomenon as astronomical. Although initially raising doubts, the natural explanation proved convincing.
The report, part of Project 10073, includes details such as the exact time of the sighting and the precise location of the witness. Despite the lack of photographic evidence, the object's description and trajectory matched astronomical calculations. This case reflects how UFO reports often resolve with conventional explanations, though they remain historically interesting as part of the vast database of unexplained aerial phenomena.
