🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, hundreds of people in Buffalo called air traffic lines to report a luminous object in the sky. The Air Force sent a jet to investigate but found nothing. Records suggest the object was likely the planet Venus, whose position matched the reported location. Although fighters were scrambled, no visual confirmation was made. Astronomers and charts supported the identification as Venus, indicating a case of celestial confusion.
The official report, partially illegible, mentions possible balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena. However, the alignment with Venus and the lack of sightings by jets point to a natural explanation. This case is a classic example of how celestial objects can be misinterpreted as unexplained phenomena, especially under specific atmospheric or lighting conditions.
