🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in Mission Hills, California, reported in 1957 the presence of a luminous object that changed color for over an hour. He described a yellow ball that turned green and then flashing blue, visible through binoculars. The official report concluded it was Venus, although the witness couldn't identify the object or provide precise azimuths. The duration and behavior of the phenomenon caused some confusion, but there was no evidence of aerial or other activity.
The case was analyzed by the Air Force, which classified it as an astronomical event. Despite the prolonged observation, there were no photographs or additional data supporting an alternative explanation. The report mentions Venus as a plausible explanation, but also highlights the imprecision of the data provided by the witnesses. This document is an example of how UFO reports are often resolved with natural explanations, although they leave room for doubts.
