Summary

In November 1957, an employee at a grocery store in Freeport, Texas, spotted a red ball of fire in the sky. The object showed no lateral movement and made no sound, making it unusual. It appeared low, slowly ascended, disappeared, and reappeared at a higher altitude, remaining visible for two minutes. The observation was made from a watchtower with the naked eye and glasses, under clear skies. Although initially considered an aircraft, investigators concluded it was likely a balloon. The lack of physical evidence and the observer's location under an airway supported this interpretation.
