🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, an unidentified object was sighted southwest of Tokyo, Japan. Witnesses described it as a flame, flare, or bright light with colors ranging from white to orange-red. One observer reported a single tail resembling a flame, while another described three tails with blue, yellow, and orange hues. Local newspapers noted the object was accompanied by a "sizzling" sound. The object moved in a slight arc parallel to the ground and faded out of sight.
The sighting lasted between 10 and 45 seconds, and while no photographs were taken, multiple witnesses confirmed the event. Military authorities considered it possibly a meteor, though no definitive identification was made. The weather was clear with visibility over 10 miles, supporting the likelihood of an astronomical phenomenon. However, the description of tails and the sizzling sound add an enigmatic touch to the case.
