A 1957 report describes an object seen by a family near White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The object was compared to a 4-inch fountain pen held at arm's length. It alternated between orange and gray colors, with one end remaining constantly orange. No sound was heard, and it appeared to follow an arched path toward the ground. The observation lasted three minutes and was recorded in a military report, though no clear conclusion was reached.
The report notes that the exact direction of the object's movement was unknown, complicating its evaluation. The possibility of an aircraft or a shooting star was ruled out due to the slow movement. A balloon was considered but not confirmed. The weather was clear with no visual obstructions, increasing the difficulty of identifying the object. Ultimately, it was concluded that there was insufficient data to evaluate the phenomenon.
