🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, an object with bright lights was observed over Las Vegas, Nevada. A TWA pilot noticed it while on the base leg of landing at McCarran Airport. At the same time, the object appeared on the radar screen of the control center. It was described as an orbiting object with lights similar to landing lights. Although initially generating some uncertainty, investigators concluded it was likely a commercial aircraft in the landing pattern. There were no photographs or additional testimonies to confirm a more mysterious explanation.
The classified report includes radar data, air and ground observations, and an evaluation by military personnel. Despite the lack of images, the available data allowed to rule out explanations such as balloons or astronomical phenomena. The object was categorized as likely a commercial aircraft due to its behavior and location. This case reflects how, in the 1950s, UFO reports were analyzed with rigor, although with limited resources. In this case, the conventional explanation prevailed over speculation.
