🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, an experienced pilot reported observing an unidentified object near Hill City, Kansas. The object had a football-like shape with rounded ends, pea-sized, and a metallic silver-gray color that brightened as it moved. The pilot described a bright ring around the object, similar to Saturn's. The object remained stationary for several minutes before following another B-47 aircraft, hovering over it for a minute, and then rapidly ascending vertically until it disappeared. The observation lasted between 8 and 9 minutes.
Although investigators considered various explanations, such as balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena, no definitive conclusion was reached. It was noted that Venus was very bright on the horizon at the time, which could have influenced the sighting. The observers insisted it was not cockpit lights or a natural phenomenon. The official report concluded the cause of the sighting remained unknown.
