🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, a Combat Observation Group (GOC) observer reported an object resembling a bright star with a tail, pea-sized and silver. The sighting lasted 20 minutes, with the object disappearing over the horizon. The observer described it as an aircraft with sunlight reflecting off it, though the bright and short trail resembled contrail. Confusion with a bright star to the south added complexity to the case.
Weather data showed clear skies and variable winds, but there were no radar contacts or photographs. The report concluded the object was likely an unidentified aircraft, possibly a heavy bomber, though balloon or astronomical explanations were not ruled out. Despite uncertainties, the mystery remained unresolved, and the case was filed without a definitive conclusion.
