🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, an observer near Cleburne, Texas, spotted a round or oval object the size of a pea with a white glow. The object was seen for 10 seconds and exhibited unusual behavior: it changed course and rapidly ascended before leveling off. Although initially considered a balloon or aircraft, the report concluded it was an astronomical meteor. The witness, a Convair service engineer and Air Force reservist, described a behavior inconsistent with aircraft in the area at the time.
The official report lacks photographs but includes the precise location and weather conditions. Despite other aircraft being recorded in the area, such as a B-36 and a C-47, their behavior did not match the observation. A balloon recently launched at Goodfellow AFB was also ruled out. The report, though brief, adds another piece to the mystery of night sightings in the 1950s.
