🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, a 16-year-old high school student in Middletown, New York, observed a round object with a white glow in the center and an orange outer rim. The object was heading south when it suddenly turned east and disappeared. The sighting lasted about 20 seconds, and although no photos were taken, the witness provided detailed descriptions. The report suggested it could be an aircraft, as an officer noted that the object's characteristics resembled those of a jet engine's exhaust.
The atmosphere of the time was marked by great interest in UFO sightings, and this case was classified as likely an aircraft. Despite the lack of photographic evidence, the young witness's testimony and detailed description contributed to the evaluation of the incident. The official report, part of Project 10073, concluded that there was not enough information to consider it an unidentified phenomenon, but the case remains an interesting example of how sightings were analyzed in the 1950s.
