🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, a Coast Guard officer at Cape Mears, Washington, observed a bright white object the size of a dime. The object was moving rapidly from northwest to southeast and remained visible for three to four minutes. Although balloon or astronomical explanations were considered, the data more clearly pointed to an aircraft. However, the lack of photographs and the apparent inconsistency between the object's speed and the duration of observation created doubts.
The witnesses included two Coast Guard officers who reported the sighting from two different locations. The object's description and straight path suggested controlled flight, but calculations of distance and speed did not align. This led to the conclusion that the information was inconsistent, making an accurate evaluation difficult. Despite this, the available data indicated a higher probability that it was a conventional aircraft.
