A witness in Arizona reported a bright red moving object in the night sky. The report links it to Sputnik II, the Soviet satellite. The description mentions a "streak" as bright as a pea. The observer, a 47-year-old pharmacist, watched the phenomenon for three minutes using binoculars. Although no photos were taken, the report suggests the object was not a balloon, aircraft or astronomical event.
The exact location was along the Gila River, and the object was moving southeast. Despite the lack of images, investigators concluded it was not a conventional object. This case is part of a series of sightings in 1957, possibly linked to Soviet satellite launches.
