Summary

In November 1957, a USAF RB-50 pilot reported a red object with a blue-green trail passing rapidly in front of his aircraft at 15,000 feet. The object moved from right to left, following a descending trajectory before exploding with a greenish-white flash. The sighting lasted between 2 and 3 seconds. Although it might initially seem like an unexplained phenomenon, the data align with that of a bolide, a bright meteor that burns up upon entering Earth's atmosphere.

Post-incident analysis confirmed the object was not a balloon, aircraft, or unrelated astronomical event. The color, trajectory, and final explosion were consistent with a meteorite breaking apart upon atmospheric entry. Such events, while unusual, are common in UFO databases, where they are often mistaken for unidentified objects until further analysis clarifies their nature.
