🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, a civilian reported a square orange object, the size of a boxcar, that remained stationary in the sky for three seconds before disappearing behind a cloud. The observer, located five miles east of Moisant Airport, Louisiana, stated it was not the moon but resembled a streak of light. The brief duration and apparent stillness of the object led investigators to consider it a meteor or astronomical phenomenon.
The official conclusion attributed the sighting to an optical illusion, suggesting it was a misinterpretation of a conventional object. There were no photographs or radar data, and the single eyewitness account wasn't corroborated by others. Despite this, the case remains intriguing due to the detailed description and precise location of the sighting. The report, part of Project 10073, reflects the effort to catalog and understand UFO reports from the era.
