🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, a UFO sighting was reported off the southeast coast of Florida. A bright object, compared to the star Sirius, was observed by the entire crew and passengers of an aircraft. The object dimmed and then brightened again, resembling a rocket changing stages. Although initially considered a missile, the duration of the event and the time ruled it out. It was finally concluded to be an astronomical meteor.
This case is one of many from the era showing how civilian and military observers tried to understand unexplained aerial phenomena. Although most reports were classified as natural phenomena or perceptual errors, some cases like this continue to generate curiosity and debate.
