A 1957 report describes a UFO sighting in Kearney, Nebraska, where a witness claimed to have seen a silver object 100 feet long land near the Platte River. The witness, a seed buyer, stated that two men from the object paralyzed him with a light beam, took him aboard, and told him they "meant no harm." According to the report, the object had four legs, two tubes at each end, and left a green oil stain on the ground. However, the investigation revealed the witness had psychiatric history and possibly sought public attention. No clear landing marks were found, and the oil might have come from a can found in his car. Investigators concluded the sighting was a hallucination.
The case was widely publicized, but military and medical authorities determined the testimony lacked credibility. The witness was hospitalized, and oil analysis did not confirm extraterrestrial origins. The official report suggests the incident had no factual basis and that the witness had crafted a detailed story after being questioned by local media and officials.
