🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1957, a woman in Theriot, Louisiana, observed a bright elongated object that disappeared along with the surrounding clouds. The object remained stationary for 20 seconds and was seen low on the horizon. Although its shape was unusual, investigators concluded it was likely Venus, whose position matched the sighting location. The observation was recorded by an Air Force officer, who considered the data to support an astronomical explanation.
The object was described as "bright as the sun" and its sudden disappearance caused some surprise, but there were no photographs or additional data to complicate the explanation. The official report classified the case as probably astronomical, attributing it to Venus seen through a cloud or ice layer. Despite the apparent simplicity of the case, the object's description and behavior make it a curious entry in the history of UFO sightings.
