🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in Roseberg, Oregon, reported in 1957 the sighting of a large, white, oblong object that moved away toward the ocean and faded. The observation lasted between 20 and 30 minutes, and although no photos were taken, the witness described it clearly. Investigators concluded it was likely Venus, as its position in the sky matched the direction and elevation reported. The description of the object as "large, white, and oblong" caused some confusion, but astronomical data support the conventional explanation.
The official report classifies it as "Probably Astronomical," and although other possibilities are not ruled out, there is no evidence of unidentified activity. This case, like many from that era, reflects the interest and confusion generated by UFO sightings in the 1950s.
