Summary

In December 1957, a witness in Marietta, Georgia, reported seeing a cigar-shaped object 25 to 30 feet long with bright lights at the front and back. The object was moving very fast toward the southwest and was observed for 30 to 40 seconds. Although the witness did not take photos, the report concluded it was likely an aircraft. The observer mentioned being influenced by other recent sightings, such as the one in Levelland, Texas.

A second report from the same location and month described a round white object the size of a baseball that fell straight from the sky and disappeared in three seconds. This second sighting was classified as a meteorite. Despite the brevity of the second observation, officials agreed it was a common astronomical phenomenon. Both cases reflect how UFO reports from the era were evaluated with technical and contextual criteria.
