🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A round object, two feet in diameter and red in color, was spotted in the sky over Mount Olive, North Carolina, in 1957. The witness saw it moving in a straight path toward the southwest. Although options like balloons or aircraft were initially considered, the object was concluded to be the planet Venus, which was about to set.
The observation lasted about five minutes and no local traffic could explain the phenomenon. The official report, part of Project 10073, was reviewed by intelligence officers, but no conclusive evidence of an unknown craft was found.
