🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1957, a pilot at Fairchild AFB, Washington, reported a large, round, white object that vanished in a flash. The observation lasted only three seconds and no photos were taken. The report classified the event as astronomical, specifically a meteor, due to the context of the Geminids meteor shower. Although the pilot was performing a turn at 43,000 feet, the object did not behave like an aircraft or balloon. The lack of additional data and the coincidence with a meteor shower led to the conclusion that it was a meteor.
