🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An unidentified object penetrated the wall of a house in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 5, 1957. The homeowner discovered a cylindrical object embedded in the wall, emitting heat and a strong iron sulfide odor. After a joint investigation by the 8th Naval District and local authorities, the object was identified as a ground-type rocket parachute flare, likely fired by a civilian. No identifying marks were found, and the incident was considered a civil disturbance. The report was submitted to the USAF for filing.
The case was classified as insufficient for a definitive evaluation, but the object was ruled out as a UFO. The investigation concluded it was a terrestrial artifact and not an aerial or astronomical phenomenon. Despite the unusual nature of the incident, there was no further official follow-up.
