🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1957, multiple witnesses in Long Island and Maryland reported the sighting of an unidentified object that appeared to have characteristics of a meteor. The object was described as elongated, with a blue-white front portion and a luminous tail resembling rocket exhaust. Observations occurred between 00:58 and 01:00, and several witnesses in different locations confirmed the presence of the object. Although other possibilities like balloons or aircraft were initially considered, weather data and the flight description point to an astronomical phenomenon. The event's duration of 2 to 3 seconds and the object's straight trajectory are consistent with a falling meteor.
