Summary

In December 1957, a witness in Colorado Springs described an object resembling a comet streaking across the sky. The object had a rounded front, tapered toward the rear, and left sparks in a bluish-white color. The sighting lasted between 2 and 3 seconds and no sound was heard. Although initially considered as a possible aircraft or balloon, experts concluded it was a meteorite. The report includes testimonies from several civilian observers and an Air Force officer who confirmed the phenomenon matched the description of a meteor.

The object's description, trajectory, and duration of the sighting aligned with typical meteor characteristics. Additionally, Air Force Lieutenant William T. Niven observed the same event and identified it as a shooting star. The report was reviewed by multiple officers and no physical evidence or photographs of the event were found. Despite multiple sightings, the phenomenon was classified as a common astronomical event, requiring no further investigation.
