🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1958, a woman in River Forest, Illinois, filmed an object she initially thought was an unusually large star. She observed it for five minutes through binoculars, noting it was approaching and growing in size. She then aimed her Bolex H-3 Deluxe camera and captured images of a red-orange object moving silently. The film shows an object about six inches long, but no clear identification was made. The area had heavy air traffic, complicating the evaluation.
The 200-foot film was reviewed by the 24th District OSI, which concluded there was insufficient data to determine the object's nature. The witness did not report the sighting immediately, and the film was returned to her, though she offered to cooperate with further analysis. This case is part of the records from Project 10073, a USAF initiative to investigate unidentified sightings.
